Les Augrés Manor House  -  H.Q. for Jersey Zoo & D.W.C.T.    RA6

Those who live too far away to easily visit might like to know that the D.W.C.T. Dodo symbol is in a low wrought iron gate (the picture was taken from low down). If you walk through the gate for a few feet, towards the Manor House, turn right, and then walk a few feet further into the small formal garden, just visible, you reach an inscribed Memorial Stone  to the late Gerald Durrell. It is made of  mottled local Jersey pink granite mounted on a very low plinth. You will find a photograph of the Memorial Stone and its inscription elsewhere on this web site. Gerald Durrells ashes are buried here. The statue of Gerald Durrell (also photographed on this web site) is in a different place - just inside the Zoo entrance - looking out over Gerald Durrells' "Stationary" Ark.
