• RANGE: Europe North America

• HABITAT: Flower gardens, grassland, open country, steppe

• SIZE: 22-27mm

• DIET: The caterpillar feeds on sorrell or dock

• CONSERVATION STATUS: Can be very abundant for example in the southern half of Britain

• NOTES: May produce several broods each year. Markings vary and there are several sub-species.
