LESSER ANTILLES IGUANA
Iguana delicatissima
RANGE: Dominica Lesser Antilles islands West Indies Caribbean
CONSERVATION STATUS: Vulnerable due to destruction of rainforest habitat, introduced predators and hunting.
DIET: Herbivorous
NOTES: Shy and timid. Prefer to live in trees. The first captive-bred individual of this species was successfully born at the Jersey Zoo 1997. There is a theory that iguanas have been dispersed widely by travelling over water on flotsam, for example as a result of hurricanes.
