HABITAT: Forest and scrubland.
SIZE: 42 cms (17 inches).
DIET: Fruit, flowers, leaves, seeds, buds, shoots, twigs, and bark
CONSERVATION STATUS: Critically Endangered.
NOTES: The world's most endangered parrot. In 1987 the Echo Parakeet numbered just 12 birds in Mauritius. Thanks to a DWPT intensive hands-on recovery programme re-introduction into the wild has resulted in over 120 Echo Parakeets flying free.
