• RANGE: Most of temperate Australia.

• HABITAT: Forest and woodlands, but also deserts and mountains.

• SIZE: 35 to 45cm long. Between 2 and 7 kg.

• DIET: Termites and ants. Also grubs, larvae and worms.

• CONSERVATION STATUS: Widespread, but protected.

• NOTES: Occasionally feeds during the day in the cooler months. A marsupial monotreme that lays eggs.
